We must apologize for our workshops being magnets for bad weather.
Our first set of workshops was originally scheduled for the weekend of the blizzard. Our second set of workshops were held on the weekend of the last snowfall for the year. Now, tonight’s workshop is being held in the midst of a flash flood watch related to a multi-day rainstorm expected to drop multiple inches of rain…
But do you know where it will be dry? Inside Town Hall during our workshop starting at 7:00PM!
We will begin with an informational presentation about the current status of the update process including summaries of the public input received during the three previous rounds of public engagement. (Don’t worry; we’ll wait an extra 10-15 minutes before we start to give you plenty of time to get inside.) After the presentation, you will have an opportunity to provide feedback for the Planning Commission on a draft vision statement and supporting statements of intent.
Our fourth phase of the update process has begun, and we want to offer a big thank you to everyone that came out to our workshops at the Carver Center this weekend! Over 30 people attended, and we have started receiving good feedback on how to proceed in drafting the updated comprehensive plan for the Town of Purcellville. Please don’t forget that we’re also holding another workshop this Thursday evening (September 29) at 7:00PM in Town Hall. We hope that you can join us.
Even if you can’t attend a workshop in person, we’ve just posted the presentation and public input exercise from the workshops on the new Evaluating the Vision page. This exercise presents a Vision Statement and six Statements of Intent that were created by the Planning Commission in response to the community’s previous input, and we want you to tell us how well each statement expresses your desires for Purcellville’s future. We look forward to receiving your feedback!
We hope to see you at the Carver Center tomorrow for the two workshops that kick off our fourth round of public engagement. There will be two sessions: 10AM-12PM and 2PM-4PM. For a little extra enticement, the Purcellville Ice Cream Truck will be onsite about 30 minutes before the end of each workshop to serve up some sweet and cold goodness. Bring your family and friends!
Although you wouldn’t know it from the lack of posts around here, it has been a busy summer for the Planning Commission and planning team. We’ll provide more details on what we’ve been up to in the near future, but right now it is most important for you to know that the next round of workshops will be held at the end of the month:
September 24 (Saturday)
#1 – 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
#2 – 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
at the Carver Center
September 29 (Thursday)
7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
at Town Hall
Each two hour session will begin with an informational presentation about the current status of the update process including summaries of the public input received during the three previous rounds of public engagement. Following the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to respond to posted questions that will provide further guidance for the Planning Commission’s ongoing work on updating the comprehensive plan.
A similar presentation on the status of the update process will take place during the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:00 PM in Town Hall; however, there will be no direct public input opportunity until the first workshop.
