The map below contains all 893 dots that were submitted by those that took part in the second round of public engagement for the comprehensive plan update. 332 dots were originally submitted to the online map between April 18-May 1, and staff has since digitized the 561 dots that were placed on the physical maps posted at the March 19th and April 7th public workshops. You can click on each dot to view its details, and the dropdown menu below the map can be used to display only the dots in a specific land use category.

We have had outstanding participation from the community thus far in the first two rounds of the comprehensive plan events. Now we are gearing up for perhaps the most exciting round yet. Starting May 19th, we invite you to join the Planning Commission and planning team to envision Purcellville’s future.
You have already shared with us what you love about the Town and what kind of land uses you prefer. Now is your opportunity to look 20 years into the future at the land in and around Purcellville and work with your neighbors to design the landscapes of tomorrow.
There will be 3 major input opportunities:
May 19, 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Town Hall
Join the Town Planning Commission in this engaging hands-on workshop to envision the future of Purcellville.
This workshop is designed for you to engage with your neighbors in small facilitated groups to create a vision for target areas in and near town by showing the type of development or preservation you think is most appropriate in these areas. You will have access to a wide variety of example development types (actual subdivisions) and architecture to share what you think the Purcellville area should look like 20 years from now.
The workshop is the first event in the third round of public engagement. The group work will be shared on Saturday at the Purcellville Music & Arts Festival and consolidated scenarios will be prepared for you and your neighbors to identify the features you like best.
Attendance is limited so please register below to reserve your seat.
Purcellville Music and Arts Festival
May 21, 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Fireman’s Field
Plan Purcellville will be featured in a tent during the festival, and you can stop by to review the maps created during the Workshop and the consolidated scenarios based on these maps. You will be asked to rank which of the scenarios you prefer to help select the scenarios that are further examined for fiscal and transportation impact analysis.
May 23-June 6
The Workshop results and consolidated scenarios will be posted online starting on Monday May 23rd where they can be reviewed and ranked for an additional 2 weeks.
**The response period for this exercise is now closed, and the results can be viewed here. Thank you for participating in Plan Purcellville.**
We are excited to announce that an interactive map has been created to allow you to provide input on what the Purcellville region could look like in the future. The map will allow you to place a dot and state the type and scale of use that you desire to see in that location. This is the same exercise that was available to those who attended the March 19th and April 7th workshops, so we will be able to easily combine all of the feedback received once the input period closes on May 1st.

Because of the poor weather during last weekend’s workshops, we’re holding an additional workshop on Thursday, April 7th in Town Hall. This workshop will take place immediately after the Planning Commission meeting which starts at 7PM.
It has been a busy couple of weeks as we’ve been preparing for the second set of Comprehensive Plan Update Workshops being held this Saturday at Town Hall. Please be sure to join us at 10AM or 2PM. We hope to see you there!
Did you receive our first status report on the comprehensive plan update in your email yesterday? If not, you should sign-up here to stay informed.
The first report was emailed to:
- Anyone that has signed up on PlanPurcellville.com to receive notifications;
- Anyone that attended the February 6th workshops and provided their email address;
- Presidents of homeowners associations in and around Purcellville that have provided their email addresses to the Town;
- Leaders of local churches, service organizations, volunteer organizations, and sports leagues that have provided their email addresses to the Town; and
- All members of the Town’s appointed committees, commissions and boards.
Although the report merely summarizes information that has previously been announced on PlanPurcellville.com or in a Town of Purcellville press release linked to from PlanPurcellville.com, a slightly modified version of the report is shown after the jump in the spirit of transparency. Reminder: Today is the last day to respond to the first round of exercises for the comprehensive plan update.
Please take a couple of minutes to complete the online survey, and tell us what is important to you about Purcellville.
You should also print and complete the mapping exercise to return to Town Hall that shows us what areas in and around Purcellville should be preserved or developed.
We had a lot of fun meeting many of our citizens and neighbors at the Loudoun Grown Expo on Saturday. We were especially glad to connect with those of you that had not yet heard about the comprehensive plan update. You are all very passionate about the future of Purcellville, and it was great to talk with you about the importance of your involvement in the update process.
Please remember that your responses to the Round 1 survey and mapping exercise are due by March 4th (found on our Get Involved! page). We want to hear from each of you, and we hope that you tell your friends and neighbors to respond too. You can also give us additional feedback at our next workshops on March 19th at Town Hall.
Great news! The Town will be hosting a table at the Loudoun Grown Expo this Saturday (February 27th) where staff will be talking about the comprehensive plan update. Because we still want to hear from as many of you as possible, we will be handing out printed copies of the February 6th Exercises and extending the deadline for everyone to submit responses until March 4th.
The Expo runs from 10AM until 5PM. We hope to see you there!
